The aim of the campaign ‘Save Ukrainian steppes!’ is to stop the destruction of the last virgin steppe sites which are now under severe threat from forest planting. A very important initiative of the campaign is launching an inventory of the remaining steppe sites in Ukraine. |

| Official site of the state nature reserve ‘Belogorye’ (Russian Federation) The Russian nature reserve ‘Belogorye’ was organised initially to save primary oak forests of the southern part of Middle Russian Hills (‘Les na Vorskle’). Nowadays it units several chalk steppe sites including unique fragments of chalk pine forests.
