Typical chalk plants
Here you
can find photos of most typical plants which grow on outcrops including pure
chalk and sites with negligible soil cover. There are both highly specialised,
endemic species which are restricted just to chalk outcrops, and more widely
distributed species which are not uncommon on outcrops of other rock types, on
disturbed soils, sand, salt marshes and so on. Some tree and shrub species
which are used for afforestation of chalk slopes are represented as well.
